  2. Hello all. My father’s name is Ignatz Kenneth Weber. He either went by Iggy or Ken. Anyway my father was a queens own and very proud to be queens own. He told us lots of stories. I lost him back in 2019. Just curious if anyone out there remembers him that could tell me stories or even has a picture to share.

    1. Hi Tim

Saw your message on the QOR websight great to hear from you and so sad about your Dad . Your Dad and I did basic training in 76 Platoon Currie Barracks Calgary in 59. 76 Platoon the best platoon ever, and I am sure your Dad would agree. When we pastout from depot and went to the 1st Bn and where put on a drivers course. In the fall of 1960 we where off to Germany. Your dad ended up in transport Pl and I ended up in Support Coy 4.2 mortors. Did he just do 3 years ? In 1917 or 18 we where in the area and we had coffee and I am so happy now I got to see him again. I am from Moose Jaw
and there where about 7 Sask boys in 76 Pl no wonder it was the best. I will have he’s name put in the last post list.Once again I am happy to have served with in him.

      Hi Tim

I worked with you father in Transport Platoon, 1 QOR of C, when we were stationed in Germany. I am sorry that I have no photos…. I just remember that he was a popular guy with the group and we all lived in quarters (about 30 to the room) adjacent to the main transport area at Fort McLeod.

  8. The songs from the era of the Great War might interest you, and most recently the Toronto Valour Ensemble recorded a choral album called Sacrifice and Solace (which we hope you will find online easily), in the memory of those who served, and paid the supreme sacrifice, and the families they left behind. Lest we forget.

INFO WANTED ON QOR PERSONNEL OPERATIONAL OR EXERCISE DEPLOYMENTS SINCE KOREA:

We are trying to update the Timelines on our Regimental Museum website with all deployments of QOR soldiers on operation or exercise outside of Canada EXCEPT reg force battalion deployments to Germany and Cyprus; training in the US; or deployments to Afghanistan up to 2011 (we WOULD like to include completed post 2011 deployments to Afghanistan or operational postings to the US.)

You can send information by email to museum@qormuseum.org

We are looking for the following information:
    – Name and rank at time of deployment (if you would prefer not to have your name on the website, please include it for our records but note this and we will only include rank (e.g. “Corporal deployed to X for operation Y” etc.
    – Operation/exercise name, location and purpose (in a few words only)
    – Dates of departure and return – preferably day, month, year or at least month, year.
    – Names/number of other QOR who participated – or in the case of a larger group, perhaps a more general description such as “platoon sized group” or something similar.
    – Any commendations or special recognition awarded
    – Any other info you think worth noting (briefly smile emoticon )

Thanks in advance for your help and please share with anyone you think may have a contribution to provide to us!!

P.S. To be clear in case it sounded like we didn’t care, we already include info on Germany, Cyprus and Afghanistan up to 2011. We may collect US training deployments in the future.
