I just lost my Dad July 7th, 2023. He was a proud Queen’s Own Rifle. He served in the UN in Cyprus and the Middle East. He was posted in Germany, Ghana, Victoria, Winnipeg, Toronto, CFB Borden and CFB Calgary.
Care to share a story or photo? Much appreciated.
Hello all. My father’s name is Ignatz Kenneth Weber. He either went by Iggy or Ken. Anyway my father was a queens own and very proud to be queens own. He told us lots of stories. I lost him back in 2019. Just curious if anyone out there remembers him that could tell me stories or even has a picture to share.
Saw your message on the QOR websight great to hear from you and so sad about your Dad . Your Dad and I did basic training in 76 Platoon Currie Barracks Calgary in 59. 76 Platoon the best platoon ever, and I am sure your Dad would agree. When we pastout from depot and went to the 1st Bn and where put on a drivers course. In the fall of 1960 we where off to Germany. Your dad ended up in transport Pl and I ended up in Support Coy 4.2 mortors. Did he just do 3 years ? In 1917 or 18 we where in the area and we had coffee and I am so happy now I got to see him again. I am from Moose Jaw
and there where about 7 Sask boys in 76 Pl no wonder it was the best. I will have he’s name put in the last post list.Once again I am happy to have served with in him.
I worked with you father in Transport Platoon, 1 QOR of C, when we were stationed in Germany. I am sorry that I have no photos…. I just remember that he was a popular guy with the group and we all lived in quarters (about 30 to the room) adjacent to the main transport area at Fort McLeod.
